A Sanctuary on the San Diego Bay
Meeting up at Shelter Island was a breeze because the parking is located right across the street from the dock, making the transition from the car to the catamaran completely seamless. As we stepped on board at 1:00 PM, the sleek, modern aesthetic of the boat immediately set a sophisticated tone for the afternoon. This is not a typical weathered rental; the vessel feels like a floating boutique lounge, decked out in neutral tones and clean lines that make the deep blue of the bay pop. The entire experience is dialed in from the moment you arrive, ensuring the group stays relaxed and ready for the water.

Design Elements and Open Air
The design of the boat is incredibly spacious, allowing our crew of twelve to utilize every square inch without ever feeling crowded. The bow is the obvious centerpiece, offering enough room for everyone to spread out across the expansive netting and leather bean bags. However, the interior salon and the aft lounge offered perfect pockets of comfort for the group throughout the journey. Having two separate, modern bathrooms on board added a level of convenience that made the long afternoon feel effortless, as there was never a wait or a cramped feeling below deck.

A Smooth, Comfortable Adventure
Once we left the dock, the catamaran design proved its worth by keeping the entire ride exceptionally smooth as we headed out into the bay. We spent about thirty minutes cruising toward our anchor spot, and the wide beam of the boat provided a stable platform that made walking around while underway feel totally secure. It is the kind of experience that goes by incredibly fast because everyone is having so much fun, but the quality of the ride is undeniable. The logistics were handled entirely through Planz, leaving the group free to simply enjoy the movement of the boat.

Watching Lindy’s group made me realize that these are the moments that bring friends closer together, and we're happy to help make them happen.
Elevating the Social Experience
As we reached the heart of the bay, the journey transitioned from a smooth cruise into a perfect midday hangout. We dropped anchor in the calm waters between Coasterra and the city center, which provided a massive, unobstructed view of the San Diego skyscrapers as our backdrop. One of the biggest draws for this specific charter was the BYOB policy, allowing the group to bring exactly the food and drinks they wanted for the afternoon. We loaded up the aft deck dining table with everyone's favorite snacks and beverages, turning the space into our own private waterfront lounge.

Time for a Swim
The highlight of the afternoon happened once the captain secured our spot in the anchorage and gave the go-ahead to jump in. The water was the perfect antidote to the warmth of the high afternoon sun, and half the group didn't hesitate to go swimming right off the back of the boat. There is something about being anchored right in front of the glass towers of downtown that makes a simple swim feel like a major event. Having that stable home base meant people could hop in and out at their own pace, moving from the water back to a bean bag effortlessly.

A Bright and Sunny Finish
By the time we pulled the anchor and started the trek back to Shelter Island, the entire group was collectively wondering where the time had gone. It quickly became clear that the journey across the bay was just as enjoyable as the destination itself. As I watched Lindy and her friends take one last group photo against the sparkling water and the downtown skyline, I was reminded why we do what we do. A few taps on a screen led to a memory that this group will keep forever.

A huge thank you to Lindy & friends for sharing this journey and inspiring us all to make Planz!
