What to Know
Washington, DC is more than the nation’s capital. It’s a layered metro area shaped by historic neighborhoods, world-class museums, government institutions, universities, waterfront districts, parks, restaurants, and nearby escapes across Northern Virginia and Maryland. The city itself has a population of around 700,000, while the broader region gives visitors a much wider mix of places to explore.
The best time to visit is generally spring or fall, when the weather is comfortable for walking, outdoor dining, monuments, museums, and neighborhood exploring. Summers can be hot and humid, while winters are cooler and quieter, though the city remains active year-round thanks to its museums, restaurants, events, and indoor experiences. We’ll share curated journeys, local reviews, and experience ideas across the DC region. Stay tuned.
